This is a story of a caterpillar and his journey with food. He starts out as an egg and then grows as a caterpillar until he becomes a butterfly. On each day of the week during his life, he eats different foods ranging from fruits and vegetables to hearty meats and desserts. In this piece, food is communicating the growth of life. The young caterpillar starts out small, and through his journey with food, he grows into a butterfly. The food that the caterpillar eats initially is a convenience for him, then at the end of the story it turns into responsibility. Initially he eats the food around him because it was easily accessible and he did not have to go far to find it. At the end, he is more responsible to eat something better for him. The food that he ate on Friday made him feel sick, so Saturday he had a responsibility to eat something that was more healthy than than the cakes and other desserts that he ate previously.
