In the painting, Guacamole by Sarah k. Lamb you see a scene of vegetables about to be made into Guacamole. The symbolism is apparent by the name of the painting. The painting is named Guacamole yet what is actually seen on the canvas are ingredients what will happen with them is implied. Also rather than just have the vegetables on the cutting board ready to be cut it has the lime and the avocado already sliced. This small detail definitely makes the food seem more desirable. A brown skinned avocado doesn’t appeal as much as the vibrant green edible part of the avocado.
This painting has the concept of identity because while it is unclear whether or not the painter is Mexican or not the dish most certainly is. Also the fact that there is a molcajete in the painting instead of a regular bowl. This implies a more genuine way of making guacamole. Even if that appears more like a mortar and pestle it is still the culturally correct manner to make this Mexican dish.
