Peter Claesz was a Dutch still life painter most famously known for his paintings depicting dinner scenes. Peter used many warm and "home-ey" colors and scenes in his paintings. They consisted of dinner tables overflowing with food, flowers, wine, olives, olive oil, oranges, lemons, and other foods that were known to be a delicacy at the time. The dinner tables he painted were never organized, rather the scenes he painted were those of what looked like hearty and fulfilled lunches and dinners. The tables are all in disarray with orange peels spilling over the sides and crumbs covering the tablecloth which is hanging off of the table. It leaves the viewer with a sense that they themselves have jut finished a grand meal.
