Chinese cuisine has a number of different genres, but the most influential and typical known by the public are the Eight Cuisine: Shandong Cuisine, Sichuan Cuisine, Jiangsu Cuisine, Guangdong Cuisine, Zhejiang Cuisine, Fujian Cuisine and Hunan Cuisine. My family recipe is the Braised Prawns which belongs to Shandong Cuisine and is one of the most classic delicacies of the Shandong Cuisine.
This family recipe is from my grandmother. She was born in Jilin province, which is from the northeast China, she moved to Shandong with her father when she was very young. Food is the most important element in every different culture, especially in China. We love food so much that every different city have their own food. I am living in a coastal city, people in my city love sea food very much. So does my family. I couldn’t remember when was the first time I ate this Braised Prawns, but I know I will never forget the taste of this delicious prawn. My grandma used to cook this prawn in some important days, like the Chinese New Year, Mid-autumn Festival, family member’s birthday or my final exam days. I still remember how much do I love these days just because of this Braised Prawns. She was so worried about me that I couldn't eat it anymore when I came to America, so she taught me how to cook it. It my opinion, Braised Prawns is a easy cook meal, but it is the best taste meal in the world. Maybe I just love sea food and my family.
